The war in Afghanistan will go down in history as one of America’s most disappointing and futile foreign policy endeavors. Even after 20 years in the Middle Eastern nation, the U.S. failed to keep the Taliban from swiftly reclaiming power. The biggest tragedy of this failed mission, of course, is the lives lost in the war and the plight of Afghans left behind at the mercy of religious radicals. The American people also want answers about the nearly $1 trillion spent on the war and how much of that sum actually went toward fighting terror and helping Afghans. Taxpayers deserve the truth on how this generational debacle went awry.
The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) vehemently opposes efforts by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and congressional leadership to pass the $3.5 trillion budget deal using “deem and pass” tactics during a rule vote. This will deprive the American people of a substantive and transparent debate on the massive bill and is a clear attempt to avoid accountability for the disastrous fiscal ramifications of the legislation.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) announced the start of a digital and billboard campaign urging Arizona Sens. Kyrsten Sinema (D) and Mark Kelly (D) to oppose the nomination of David Weil to head the Department of Labor’s Wage & Hour Division. The billboards direct Sens. Synema and Kelly, as well as their Arizonan constituents, to visit rejectweil.com to see why David Weil is bad for Arizonans, and all Americans.
The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) is urging Reps. Cindy Axne (D-Iowa), Jim Costa (D-Calif.), Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.), Angie Craig (D-Minn.), Antonio Delgado (D-N.Y.), Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.), Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.), Tom O’Halleran (D-Ariz.), Kim Schrier (D-Wa.), Julia Brownley (D-Calif.), Salud Carbajal (D-Calif.), John Garamendi (D-Calif.), and Josh Harder (D-Calif.) to oppose the repeal of the stepped up basis rule in the budget resolution. These representatives correctly noted in a prior letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) that such a change would force family farms and ranches to sell their property to meet the tax burden.

Sometime in the next few days, perhaps even hours, the Texas House of Representatives is set for a final vote on S.B. 5, a bill that would essentially force social media companies and other online services to host all sorts of content, implementing a blanket ban on “censoring” based on the “viewpoint of the user[.]” The bill passed the Texas Senate about a week ago.
Following the chaotic and tragic events unfolding in Afghanistan, the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA), a non-partisan, non-profit taxpayer and consumer watchdog organization, is urging members of Congress to refocus on ensuring the American people get answers and accountability from the Biden administration. Now is not the time to dramatically expand the power of an administration facing serious questions of basic competency.
