After a long, hard day at the office (or on Zoom), it’s nice to sit down and pour a glass of well-deserved wine. That feeling is even better with wine that can be purchased at vending machine prices. The low cost“Two Buck Chuck” wines changed the world and led to a consumer revolution in affordable wine. And, along every step of the day, Two-Buck Chuck pioneer Fred Franzia had to put up with meddlesome regulators and cynics who tried to stomp the brand and thought that wine was for the wealthy.

TPA Sends Letter to Congress Opposing FY23 Budget Balk

Today, TPA sent a letter to Congress in opposition of the Continuing Appropriations and Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2023. TPA has deep concerns with the inclusion of nongermane provisions, a December 16th funding deadline during a lame-duck session and the practice of continuing resolutions. Congress has a responsibility to pass annual budgets that allocate taxpayer dollars responsibly and effectively; this proposal falls short on all counts.

Token Antitrust Reform Package Will Cost Pretty Penny

Congress has a lot it needs to focus on this week, having procrastinated to the point of being less than a few days away from a government shutdown. However, rather than Congress’ agenda being filled with deliberations on how to keep the government running, they managed to find time in their schedule to consider a handful of antitrust bills including the Merger Filing Fee Modernization Act and the State Antitrust Enforcement Venue Act. This legislative package would funnel money into the coffers of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC), as well as give the government a leg up in judicial proceedings.

Congress Should Pass Bill Funding Government through January, Not Add on Unrelated Items

Changing leaves, crisper weather, and the emergence of pumpkin-flavored beverages are the few certainties in life when fall rolls around. In the nation’s capital, a fourth certainty, a continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government funded, also seems automatic this time of year.
