Fact Check: New Trump Tariffs Will Hurt Consumers

President Donald Trump has introduced a series of tariff measures on various countries and imports (such as steel and aluminum) under the guise of creating economic growth and boosting American manufacturers. Unfortunately, tariffs are taxes that raise prices on imports, which means higher costs for American businesses and consumers, stifling growth. Protectionism hurts business growth, weakens innovation, and is antithetical to a free market system.
