Washington, D.C. – The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) congratulates Commissioner Mike O’Rielly on his last day at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). His principled leadership was crucial to some of the most innovative developments of the last few years. He will be dearly missed.
In response, TPA Vice President of Policy Patrick Hedger offered the following statement:
“There are few people in the government today as dedicated to their principles as Commissioner O’Rielly. O’Rielly’s tenure was characterized by a modern, hands-off approach to regulatory policy that allowed our economy to grow and helped bridge the digital divide.
“As do all upstanding public servants, Commissioner O’Rielly was ready, willing, and able to take principled stands even at great political risk. He fought tirelessly for the principles of free speech and markets despite the full-throated opposition of powerful special interests and members of his own party. His record of service should stand as an example for future public servants dedicated to the preservation of liberty. He will be missed on the Commission and TPA wishes him the best of luck with whatever comes next.”
