TPA Urges Congress to Reject Heavy-Handed Data Center Water Mandates

Yesterday, the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) sent a letter to leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment urging lawmakers to reject heavy-handed mandates targeting data centers ahead of a hearing on drinking water systems and ratepayers. While data centers should pay appropriately for the resources they use, proposals that single out the industry are based on an exaggerated picture of its water consumption. Data centers account for only a fraction of U.S. water use, while providing communities with jobs, tax revenue, and new investment.
TPA urged lawmakers to pursue policies that protect ratepayers without creating costly new mandates or jeopardizing the economic benefits of data center development. Read our letter below.
