Washington, D.C. – This Tax Day, the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) calls on all lawmakers to resist the urge to implement any tax hikes proposed by the Biden administration or members of Congress.
TPA President David Williams offered the following comment:
“As Americans file their taxes today, it is important for the President and Congress to understand that increasing taxes will hurt the economic recovery. If members of Congress and the President believe that taxes are too low, they are living in a fantasy world. With the American economy having taken a series of devastating blows over the last year, it still seems poised to recover, and to do so very soon. The tax burden on most Americans is high enough that policymakers should seek to reward those who are still willing to invest their hard-earned money into the economy and into the small business community.
“Unfortunately, the series of proposals put forth by the administration would do just opposite. It would rescind large portions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which spurred historic economic growth. In a move that would surely bring economic havoc, the Biden plan would also implement new taxes on investment and inheritance that would force the sale of many family-owned businesses.
“Americans should keep in mind this Tax Day that their bill next year could be far worse for their family’s financial wellbeing if the Biden administration gets its way. We urge lawmakers to pursue an agenda that will grow the economy instead of the government.”
