Washington, D.C. – With the renomination of David Weil to head the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD), the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) continues to underscore the negative consequences of his nomination.
TPA’s Executive Director, Patrick Hedger, offered the following statement:
“Today, as the markup begins in Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee for David Weil’s renomination, TPA holds firm in opposition to his appointment.
“We applaud Senators Richard Burr (R-N.C.), Mike Braun (R-Ind.), Bill Cassidy (R-La), Tim Scott (R-S.C.) Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), and Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) in their most recent letter urging the withdrawal of this nomination. Weil’s confirmation will be bad news for the economy, specifically franchisees and independent contractors. We urge senators on both sides of the aisle to stop his nomination.
“After the last two years of unprecedented change to the workplace environment and with our economy still trying to make a comeback, implementing his proposed policies will kill American jobs and harm small businesses.”
