Washington, D.C. – Today, the United States House of Representatives voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act. The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) continues to call out the inflationary policies that Congressional Democrats continue to enact.

In response, TPA President, David Williams, offered the following statement:

“It’s beyond me why Congress would be for raising taxes on the middle class and increasing government spending in the midst of real economic decline. What happened to the Biden administration’s promise to not raise taxes on anyone making under $400,000?

“Nearly 75 percent of Americans don’t want to expand the size and scope of the IRS, yet, Congress has pushed ahead with doing exactly that. The IRS itself has admitted that nearly half of its audits in 2021 were aimed at lower income Americans who don’t have the resources to fight back. It’s clear that with an additional $80B in funding and another 87,000 IRS agents, this will only continue.

“It’s discouraging to see a bill titled, ‘The Inflation Reduction Act’ do anything but that. This will only worsen inflation and the economic burden that Americans continue to feel every time they purchase their household necessities.”
