WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, the Baltimore City Inspector General (IG) Advisory Board approved Isabel Cumming’s second term as Baltimore City IG after what can only be characterized as a resounding success in her first term. She will now serve as IG until 2030.The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) congratulates IG Cumming and commends her for her steadfast commitment to oversight of wasteful spending and government abuse in Baltimore City.
In response, David Williams, TPA President offered the following comment:
“Inspector General Cumming has done a stellar job as Baltimore City IG. Her approval for a second term should surprise no one. IG Cumming has been a valuable check to Baltimore City officials who had historically dodged accountability. There is little doubt, this will continue into her second term.
“During her first term, Cumming demonstrated to be a faithful steward of Baltimore City taxpayer dollars, denouncing multiple instances of waste, fraud, and abuse happening in the Baltimore City government. Cumming’s investigations into dangerous and abysmal working conditions at the Department of Public Works highlighted her commitment to the city’s workers and taxpayers.
“Cumming was unflinching in her dedication to justice, even though elected officials tried, on ,multiple occasions, to derail her investigations. Elected and non-elected officials are now on notice that fiscal malfeasance will not be tolerated.
“TPA wishes IG Cumming the best of luck in her second term and will continue to help the IG’s to protect the taxpayers of Baltimore.”
