WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, the Trump Administration released its executive order “Enabling Competition in the Commercial Space Industry,” which aims to remove regulations that have been holding back commercial space exploration. Onerous regulations have been holding the country back from its potential in science, innovation, commerce, and infrastructure. By targeting regulations like the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the administration is taking meaningful steps to catalyze American innovation.
In response to this development, David Williams, TPA President, offered the following comment:
“The executive order on commercial flight is yet another positive addition to the series of deregulatory efforts by this administration. NEPA has been holding back the country’s ability to build or innovate in different sectors of the economy. These range from energy production and construction, to space exploration. This exciting and fast-growing industry will push the boundaries of human exploration of outer space. The Trump Administration is making the right call by taking proactive action that will allow this endeavor with exciting new possibilities to flourish.
“TPA applauds the Administration’s decision to revise innovation-killing regulations and to foster scientific innovation by allowing the private sector to operate without the heavy hand of government holding it back.”
