WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) is calling for the Biden administration to immediately lift its pause on liquified natural gas (LNG) exports. This ban threatens to raise energy prices for American families. It will also serve to add to current and future geopolitical chaos.

In response, TPA President David Williams offered the following comment:

“Since the beginning of the Biden Administration, Americans have experienced an increase of more than 20 percent in the price of energy. This has largely been due to the Biden administration’s war on domestic production. This ban on LNG exports follows the cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline.  These actions leave America ill-prepared for any uncertainty in the energy market going forward.

“America knows the negative economic consequences of the disruption of the global oil availability since the onset of the conflict in Ukraine. Now, the world watches as critical shipping through the Red Sea is disrupted by Yemeni rebels, as part of the greater regional conflict between Israel and Palestine.

“This LNG export ban will leave America ill-prepared to deal with whatever energy emergencies may come from these crises. This ban will benefit key adversaries Russia and Qatar. Russia and Qatar are the United States’ biggest competitors for LNG exports. Ultimately, American taxpayers will be left holding the bag for the Biden administration’s ill-advised assault on domestic energy. They must reconsider immediately.”
