Washington, D.C. – The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) raised alarm about the news that inflation rose to 7.9 percent in February. This represents the highest increase since 1982.
In response, TPA Executive Director Patrick Hedger offered the following comment:
“It is no surprise that news of record levels of inflation comes right on the heels of the House passing a $1.5 trillion spending package with billions of dollars in new spending. Businesses have come to predict that Congress’ reaction to every pressing issue will be to simply spend more and more taxpayer dollars. Prices increase as a result, as business owners brace themselves for the triple front assault of the ongoing pandemic, war in Europe, and Washington recklessness. Lawmakers in Washington are eradicating the value of every Americans’ paychecks with their careless spending habits.
“This news should come as a wake-up call to legislators. Spending done in the name of helping everyday Americans is actually serving special interests and partisan agendas, while those same everyday Americans suffer as the cost of living increases. The Senate should consider this before voting on the bloated spending bill just received from the House.
Congress and President Biden have failed to protect taxpayers and consumers.”
