Washington, D.C. – The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) is troubled by a special carve-out in Florida’s anti-tech legislation, SB 7072, which specially exempts companies that operate theme parks, such as Disney. This further exposes the hypocritical, misguided nature of the legislation itself.
In response, TPA VP of Policy Patrick Hedger offered the following comment:
“The fact that companies which aren’t explicitly in the technology space feel the need to lobby for special exemptions from this bill shows just how foolish it is. Subjecting core constitutional and property rights to populist political whims doesn’t inspire confidence in the investors and entrepreneurs Florida seeks to attract from states like California and New York.
“Governor DeSantis should veto this shameful and nakedly political legislation and save face on his otherwise strong record.”
