TPA Signs Coalition Letter Opposing Tax on Digital Advertising Revenue

Taxpayers Protection Alliance

February 14, 2025

Last week, the Taxpayers Protection Alliance signed onto a coalition letter addressed to the Rhode Island Senate Finance Committee. In it, TPA encouraged opposition to the proposed ten percent tax on digital advertising revenue.

Advertising is a critical industry – in both the State of Rhode Island and across the country. As such, state lawmakers should be wary of taxing digital advertising services. This tax would disproportionately burden small businesses and consumers compared to larger corporations. Businesses and consumers across the nation are already tightening their budget amidst the significant economic pressures caused by inflation. It would be in the best economic interests of the citizens of Rhode Island for the committee to reject this proposal and any like it.
