Protect our freedoms.

Stand up for our small businesses, support farmers, and keep Texans safe.

It’s time for Texas to take the lead on commonsense regulations on hemp products.

Smart reforms balance safety and consumer choice.

Texas lawmakers have a unique opportunity to take the lead and pass needed hemp-based tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) regulations. Smart reforms can protect young Texans and preserve adult access.

Bans are government overreach.

A total ban on these products is antithetical to free markets and fair competition. If enacted, a total ban on THC would cripple many small businesses, impact other retailers, and fail to make Texans safer.

A sound path forward.

The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) supports enforcement of existing laws and the passage of smart and strong regulations to ensure that access to THC products is limited to Texans above the legal age. Moreover, TPA supports a well-regulated market in Texas for hemp products with clear rules on safe manufacturing and accurate labeling. These commonsense solutions address valid public safety concerns and will:

  • Reserve access for veterans, patients, and other Texans.
  • Support an $8 billion industry that has created more than 50,000 Texas jobs.
  • Keep these products away from minors.

Texas Should Lead on Hemp-based THC Regulations

Common Ground is Clear: Protect Youth, Preserve Access

August 4, 2025

An overwhelming majority of Texans, including Republicans, support keeping consumable THC legal with regulations.

A majority of Republican primary voters believe a ban on hemp products will create opportunities for drug cartels.

70% of voters agree THC products should remain available with regulations: 59% Republicans; 73% Independents; 83% Democrats.

A majority of Republican primary voters believe a ban on hemp products will increase black market sales.

Texans strongly agree: hemp-based THC should be regulated, not banned.

Keep Texas free.
