WASHINGTON, D.C. –  Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) is concerned to see such a broad policy agenda being proposed through Executive Order and not given the legislative oversight of Congress – an affront to the Constitution. Biden’s executive order will have consequences and limit competition in industries from healthcare to finance, hurting consumers.

TPA Vice President of Policy Patrick Hedger stated “While there are a few policy positions in this order that limited-government advocates would certainly support, such as occupational licensing reform, the vast majority of the proposals are nothing more than adding more layers of bureaucracy to industries and sectors where red tape is already the number one impediment to greater competition, particularly in healthcare, telecommunications, transportation, and finance. In short, it’s a tremendous amount of work to be incredibly lazy and avoid the root problems.

Hedger concluded, ”In addition, the size and scope of this order is a complete affront to the Constitution. A policy agenda like this should be introduced as legislation in Congress, not phoned in by an executive to unaccountable bureaucrats.”
