Watchdog Slams Biden Administration’s Unilateral Vaccine Mandate

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) criticized the Biden administration’s sweeping actions mandating that all American businesses with more than 100 employees require vaccinations or regular testing. This move is likely unconstitutional and threatens Americans’ freedom of choice and freedom to associate, and injects massive levels of regulatory uncertainty into an already unstable economy. This Executive Order follows other others decreed by the Biden administration that show massive overreach of the government.

In response, TPA President David Williams offered the following statement:

“American workers and the broader economy have been under enormous strain from the past year and a half. Those that survived the harsh lockdowns and restrictions of last year and are weathering the inflation caused by reckless government spending need support, not more government mandates. The Biden administration has launched another attack on American workers by making their ability to earn a living contingent on difficult to enforce mandates.

“While the data demonstrates that Covid-19 vaccines are exceptionally safe and effective, the choice of whether or not to get vaccinated ultimately lies solely with the individual. Further, the decision of whether or not to require proof of vaccination in the workplace ought to lie with employers themselves, not politicians and bureaucrats in Washington, DC. Any suggestion to the contrary cuts at the very heart of American liberty. This mandate sets a dangerous precedent that can be abused by both parties.

“This executive action was undertaken unilaterally with little regard for the constitutionality of the order. We hope officials at the state and local levels will challenge the implementation of this order in court and that this will be swiftly struck down in the judiciary. There is no place for such mandates anywhere in this nation.”
