WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA), a leading national taxpayer watchdog organization, urged fiscal discipline and regulatory restraint from current and future members of Congress and the President as voters go to the polls today.
TPA President David Williams issued the following statement:
“Decades of runaway spending and chaotic tax and regulatory policy have left the United States in a precarious financial position to deal with a crisis on the scale of the COVID-19 pandemic. While the entrepreneurial spirt of Americans has once again picked up the slack, excessive regulations, spending, debt, tariffs, and taxes will eventually smother that progress. We cannot allow that to happen.”
“Both parties are to blame for the runaway deficit and debt. Regardless of who wins, members of Congress and the President must work to address the fiscal problems facing the government and the country. Elected officials must also pursue a light regulatory touch in order to allow companies and the country to continue to rebuild and rebound after the COVID-19 pandemic. Regardless of the results, the only mandate is to get the country back on track, not start down a new path of reckless nationalism or socialism. TPA looks forward to working with both parties and we will also continue to hold elected officials at every level of government accountable for their actions or inaction.”
