TPA Testifies Before FDA on Nicotine Pouches and Tobacco Harm Reduction

On January 22, Christina Smith—Director of the Consumer Center at the Taxpayers Protection Alliance—delivered a presentation at the Food and Drug Administration’s Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee (TPSAC) open session. TPSAC convened to discuss modified risk tobacco product applications submitted by Swedish Match USA, Inc. for nicotine pouch products, and considered the relative health risks of the products. Christina noted that, according to the best evidence available, these products are significantly safer than conventional tobacco products and are pivotal for helping smokers quit cigarettes.
