This week, the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) joined a coalition of more than 40 free market and conservative organizations – led by the Competitive Enterprise Institute – urging the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPWC) to oppose the disastrous PROVE IT Act, which would raise prices for consumers, increase taxes, and punish energy usage.

“The PROVE IT Act is not a benign government measurement scheme that will exist for knowledge purposes. It would create a detailed carbon-emissions measuring system for domestic and foreign goods, putting into place exactly what is needed to implement a carbon tariff and a domestic carbon tax,” the letter states.

The PROVE IT Act is reportedly up for discussion at the Senate EPWC markup this week.
