This week, the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) sent a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health ahead of today’s hearing, “Lowering Health Care Costs for All Americans: Examining Policies to Increase Health Care Transparency,” urging lawmakers to pursue free-market reforms that increase competition, expand patient choice, and reduce healthcare costs. TPA’s recommendations include rolling back certificate of need laws, rejecting drug price controls, ending restrictions on physician-owned hospitals, expanding access to Health Savings Accounts, and allowing employers to use surplus pension funds to help finance healthcare benefits.
