Washington, D.C. – The Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) announced support of Senator Rand Paul’s “Six Penny Plan.” First introduced in 2017, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY)’s Penny Plan has sought to balance the federal budget in five years. The Six Penny Plan now considers the higher cost of balancing the budget 5 years later and would reduce spending by $298 billion in the first year and $16.1 trillion over 10 years by cutting topline spending.

We appreciate Senator Paul’s tireless commitment to bringing Congress’ fiscal house into order.

TPA President, David Williams, offered the following statement:

“While Congress has continued to ignore its spending problem, the problem has gotten much worse. It long overdue to address irresponsible Congressional spending and rising inflation.

“Senator Rand Paul has been raising the alarm on the federal deficit with his Penny Plan since 2017, and had Congress listened then, we could have a balanced budget today. Instead, we’ve seen Congress exacerbate inflationary pressures with unprecedented spending levels. Senator Paul’s plan would allow Congress flexibility to address the nation’s issues by focusing on topline spending cuts and preventing the reckless spending we see today.

“Across the country, Americans are cutting their costs in response to inflation. Is it so much to ask the federal government to do the same?

“As President of Taxpayers Protection Alliance, I thank Senator Rand Paul for this commonsense solution to the balance budget and protect taxpayers.
